The walnut trestle base is all mortise and tenon joinery, shaped to allow the inividual eliments to flow seamlessly together. Topped by a bookmatched tiger maple seat which has been sloped 5 degrees to the center for a suprisingly comfortable feel.
While under construction a fellow woodworkers 4yr. old thought it looked like a couple monkeys holding up a surfboard.... The name stuck, and still makes me laugh.
An ecclectic conversation piece for the front hall or the end of the bed ,perfect to put your shoes on.
