Beaches and Beach Parking In Wells
Southern Maine Coast

drakes island beach, Wells MaineDrakes Island Beach in Wells is a long sandy beach and not as busy as the main section of Wells Beach. You can walk down to the Wildlife bird sanctuary with no houses - just the sea and sand. Fishing is great off the beach at that end. Drake's Island Beach is located off of route 1. Take a right onto Drake's Island Road.

tidal pools at beach in wells maine Another favorite ocean spot is Crescent Beach. It's about a half mile south of Wells Beach which is at the end of Mile Road. Adults and kids alike love to explore in the tide pools. Finding starfish and crabs is always fun. Bring a strong pair of binoculars or a telescope and check out the seals on Bucklin Rock.

Wells Beach in southern maine

moody beach ogunquit Moody Beach is actually privately owned. Turn onto Bourne Avenue, across from the Wells Chamber of Commerce, and then take a right at the end. A number of years ago the oceanfront owners won a court case and they can ask you to leave their property if you're not "fishing, fowling or navigating". No public facilities but you can power walk down to public Ogunquit Beach in about 15 minutes.

Public Paid Parking

The town of Wells provides the following parking lots for beach goers:
1) Mile Road Beach Parking Lot - at the end of Mile Road
2) Eastern Shore Beach Parking Lot - at the end of Atlantic Avenue near Wells Harbor (take a left at the end of Mile Road)
3) Gross Beach Parking Lot - on left side off Drake's Island Road - a short walk to Drake's Island Beach
4) Drake's Island Beach Jetty - at the end of Drake's Island Beach Road take a right to the end
5) A small free parking lot on Webhannet Road near Crescent Beach. Try your luck for a spot.
Non Residents may purchase parking passes at the Wells public parking lots above or a book of passes at the Town Hall on route 109.
Resident beach stickers are sold at the Wells Town Hall (on route 109).
