A Rare Pearwood Kitchen!
CustomMade by Sheldon Perry
Although the island is painted, the remainder of this extensive kitchen is in pearwood. As you may imagine, pear trees are not large or tall, thus not conducive to large scale cabinetry. Fortunately, I managed to obtain a special shipment of old, past their prime pear trees from Bulgaria, one of … the fruit capitals of the world, just for this project. The live edge slabs were wide, long and beautiful! Pearwood has a soft and subtle grain and its wonderful copper, pink-brown color tone is simply inspiring. This kitchen features a unique combination of classical lines with simple and contemporary detailing.

White and Bright Kitchen
by Ronnie Sep 17th 2012
The kitchen is intentionally white and bright because it is an interior space. Yet, the theme of “earth and water” brings a warm and elegant feel to the kitchen. Sheldon’s task was to bring my vision of this space into the look and feel of the custom cabinetry. In particular, the curve of the island and the intersection of the painted wood, granite, stainless steel and birds eye maple surfaces presented a clear challenge. I am thrilled with the look and feel of the completed kitchen. I continue to be amazed by the beauty of the center island. There is a mystery to the way that Sheldon conjoined all the pieces. In addition, the cabinetry is beautifully executed in a soft painted finish. And the lighted display boxes, in their simplicity, perfectly showcase my colorful glass pieces.
