These highly customized decorative metal and glass doors were designed and created for a penthouse apartment in New York City with spectacular views of Manhattan, including the Chrysler Building. I was asked by the client to evoke the feel of that Art Deco icon. The doors' decorative aluminum … panels were hand drawn and then translated into vector files that would enable all the parts to be precisely cut by a water jet. All the pieces were then hand carved to create the beveled profiles. At that point all the parts were welded together and then hand sanded to create the final effect. The elegant door frames are fabricated with stainless steel and brass trim work. These artistic doors epitomize the term "functional art" and were an exciting and inspiring challenge to execute.
