This marquetry detail is inlaid in a panel in an art nouveau style 'swan bed'. The panel suggests a still summer pond, and the quiet humming of dragonfly wings. This timeless scene was one of two inlays in this bed, which is in the shape of four long-necked swans -inhabitants of such a pond. The wood veneers were selected to contrast against the mahogany bed, and some water-based stains shade the veneers.

Ever since you squeezed the Book Steps through the passage in a non-Euclidean post-physics miracle, I have been exuberantly playing with it. Its functionality is obvious but its aesthetic presence is overwhelming. Guests immediately are drawn to it and are transformed by it. Thank you so very, very much……….. Please keep in touch.
