I was commissioned to design a line of bamboo compacts, and make models for a private cosmetic company. The idea was to use a renewable and biodegradable material in an innovative manner. I employed the idea of the removable mirror to make these compacts like nothing else on the market. The use of … bamboo was also appealing for its beauty and durability. With refillable pans for cosmetic, they could be re-used, and the framed removable mirror was a beautiful object in itself.
These were the first bamboo compacts with removable mirrors on the market, and they were nominated for package of the year at the HBA show in NYC in 2009.
