I found two matched planks of curly cherry at the lumber yard - it was one of those "I've got to have that," moments. I had those planks for several years before this idea jelled. The walnut came from a tree that grew near the Russian River in Sonoma County, California.
Almost all of the walnut that I use comes to me in log form, and I go with the logs to the sawmill and direct the cutting process myself. That way all of the wood in one project match because it all comes from the same tree.
Dimensions
The bed is queen size, 60 by 80 inches. The low chest is 60"long x 20"deep x 34"tall. The tall chest is 36"wide x 20" deep x 58"tall. The nightstands are 18" wide x 15" deep x 30" tall. The finish is satin polyurethane varnish.
