Sapwood in any species of wood is something most woodworkers spend a lot of time trying to avoid. If you are not going avoid it then it must be carefully incorporated into the design. These Kitchen doors represent a thoughtful method of highlighting the lighter colored sapwood. Sapwood always appears along the edges of flat sawn lumber so to get this centered effect I have ripped the wide boards into two pieces & switched them so I am gluing sapwood edge to sapwood edge. The other great effect created by this method is an invisible glue line. Flat sawn lumber tends to be very strait grained near the edges of the boards so gluing edge to edge hides the glue lines incredibly well.
