This desk is made from 2 mahogany boards. The sides and front are made from one board and the pigeon hole and lid are made from another. The top on the desk grain mathches the fall front when closed and the interior writing surface matches the fall front when opened. The grain in the pigeon hole drawers match each other as well as the main drawers and rails. The solid brass pulls and escuteons are true to the pieriod. The desk is finished in shellac. This desk was featured in "Home Furniture" magazine, "Early American Home", The Boston Globe and won first place in the "American Woodworker" ecellence in craftsmanship contest.
