2-Roses Studio, located
in Southern California, is a life long artistic exploration and collaboration between metalsmiths Corliss Rose and John Lemieux Rose. The studio is driven by the principles of exploration of and experimentation with a wide variety of unorthodox materials and techniques. The main production of the studio is one-of-a-kind adornment and objets d’ art.
The work frequently combines highly unusual materials to explore new concepts and experimental techniques that question the fundamental nature of art and expanding the vocabulary of 21st Century adornment.
Everything from spacecraft parts to organic materials all become fair game for 2Roses’ art, often crafted with wit and a wry sense of humor. Eclectic by design, each piece created by 2Roses is actually an ongoing narrative of the transformative power of the imagination on materials and objects that surround us in an urban society.
Due to their extensive experience working with an extremely wide variety of materials 2Roses is frequently commissioned by institutions and collectors for unusual projects. 2Roses makes many custom jewelry pieces for individuals using treasured mementos, inherited and keepsake objects. If you have something unusual you would like made into a piece of jewelry – 2Roses can do it.
Also of particular note is the studio’s long history in the specialized repair and restoration of tribal and ethnic jewelry. Four decades of world travel with an emphasis on study of regional fabrication techniques have created an exceptional resource for collectors, museums, auction houses and antique dealers.
2 Roses work has been published and exhibited extensively in the US, Europe and Asia. Their work has been shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Museum of Arts & Design, NY, the Boston Society of Arts and Crafts, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Bowers Museum, Jocelyn Museum of Art, Laguna Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Portland Museum of Contemporary Craft.
