Material Cut and Glued

update posted on Feb 11th 2012 by Clark Wood Creations

Hi,

I was able to mill the lumber and glue up the cutting board this week. The first step was to mill the Bubinga to a consistent thickness and then rip many strips for the edge grain board. I also milled and cut a couple pieces of maple and a few very narrow pieces for the accent.

Lots of glue and many clamps are used to glue up the board. It always looks messy at this stage!!

Progress!

update posted on Feb 16th 2012 by Clark Wood Creations

Once the board goes through the drum sander, it cleans up all the glue and burn marks. It's trim to size and then taken to be engraved. Here's a short clip of the engraving, total time was 23 minutes!

I can't wait to put a coat of oil on this one to see it come alive!!
