Early in his career he began working in the field of carpentry, and later developed the passion for woodworking and furniture making. Since the start of his career, he has studied with Master Craftsmen to learn furniture design and woodworking techniques.

Today, Jay is skilled in all aspects of furniture design and construction and uses his skills learned through the years to handcraft custom furniture and specialty items. Jay devotes many hours to designing and handcrafting each custom piece, ensuring each is truly unique.

One of the highlights of Jay's skill set is his ability to create authentic Windsor chairs. These chairs are handcrafted the same way they were built over 200 years ago. He uses hand tools and steam to carve and bend the wood. These chairs are finished with traditional milk paint or left natural when using beautiful hardwoods.

The Wooden Knot has an artist on staff that can work with customers as needed to create a unique one of a kind design or to tailor an existing design to suit your specific needs.
