Our shop is located in th … Read more VanNess Woodworking is a small father and son shop. We are dedicated to producing beautiful and functional objects from wood. Each of our pieces is individually designed and built to meet the needs and desires of the customer while also expressing the aesthetic sensibilities of its creator. Our shop is located in the village of Scottsville New York some 15 miles outside of Rochester. The primary creative force behind most of our projects is Bill VanNess. Bill is an expert craftsman with more than 20 years of experience in woodworking. Although our main focus is custom furniture we can provide a number of other custom woodworking items including: custom cabinets, cutom built-ins and architectural units such as firepace surrounds, kitchen islands, or entertainment centers, custom decks and porches, custom wooden gift items such as boxes, combs, walking sticks, or even shoehorns, and handmade wooden bows. We have even expanded beyond woodworking to the production of hand forged knives, and hand made leather sheaths. We work with a wide variety of wood species, including both domestic and tropical hardwoods, as well as certain softwoods such as pine. We also have experience working with reclaimed lumber.
