About Cabinetmaker Birdie Miller
Welcome to my Site . . .
We are skilled furniture-cabinetmakers, who specialize in the design-build and installation of fine cabinetry, furniture, paneling and trim work for your home. We seek individuality in design for our customers.
Sin…ce 1970, we’ve designed & built custom cabinets, furniture and interior millwork of all styles in PA, NJ, and NY.
We will also design, build, install and ship to other areas.
We design and build what you want. Each project is designed for you, using our many years of experience. We can also work with your architect, designer or builder, using your designs.
Our projects range from ‘Classic Traditional’ to ‘Contemporary’ in design, including‘Crafts Style’, with its artistic exposed joinery. As you will see in my online portfollio.
We use a wide range of quality and interesting materials. From unique solid woods in the form of flitches, (natural edge boards that can be 36’’ wide, 12 ‘ long, 2’’ thick) to
specific highly selected exotic veneers and grain patterns.
The domestic & imported solid woods and veneers are walnut, cherry, ash, maple, oak, and mahogany. At times we use materials, such as; leather, silver-gold leaf, glass, metal, and stone.
Our shop has the traditional and contemporary woodworking machinery and we have the skills to build your project.
We design and build in most any style, because we appreciate the quality of each.
As you look through the projects you’ll see many different styles, each custom designed. Every piece shown can be modified to suit your individual situation.
Over thirty years of experience has tempered and honed our skills.... along with the ability to understand the needs of my clients and communicate my ideas.
During this time we have achieved a reputation for quality, creativity, and performance, at a fair price.
Our projects have been published in, House Beautiful Sept 1986, House Beautiful Home Remodeling and Renovations , Spring 1988, Better Homes and Gardens, Better by Design, April 1999. And most recently Fine Woodworking.
I'd like to mention my invention and subsequent US patent award, for the “EuroButt System Hinge”. Which allows the cabinetmakers that use or want to use the concealed hinge the option to give the traditional design element of the traditional ball tip hinge barrel to the European concealed hinge.

The EuroButt II System faux ball tip hinge was invented by me in 1990. I received a patent in 1996 and have a patent pending on a revised verision in progress now. The EuroButt II faux hinge allows cabinetmakers who use the concealed hing to give their customers the design element of the traditional ball tip hinge to their traditional projects without losing the advantages of the concealed hin ge that we all have grown to appreciate. Below is the link to the EuroButt II website, were it can be bought through paypal. http://eurobuttsystemshinge.com/homepage.html Contact me through email if you need further assistance. Thank you for viewing my EuroButt II faux traditional ball tip hinge.

Birdie and his team do it all. They are passionate about wood and always strive to use it to its best advantage. From custom wall units to detailed bars to one-of-a-kind tables - their work is precisely constructed, beautifully finished and meticul...ously installed. Birdie and his team are a pleasure to work with - a collaborative spirit, a willingness to do what needs to be done and a seemingly unending knowledge of how things work make the process stress-free. The studio environment of the shop adds to the experience. I have been very pleased with the projects we have done together.

Birdie took my undefined vision for a new kitchen and made it a reality. Over the years, he has built two kitchens, a front entranceway, custom planters, a cabana interior and custom trimwork. Give him aproject and you'll receive plans and step by... step pictures of the project as it takes shape.

Laura Bodman wrote: We did a major home renovation and Birdie created the charm that was desperately needed. He and his very capable team crafted our magical kitchen, constructed an amazing cherry panelled family room, and built our library entertainment center and al...l the cabinetry in our bathrooms. First, let me say that Birdie is a delight to work with. First and foremost, he listens, grasps your desire and gently suggests ways to improve on the project. His attention to detail is second to none. He is meticulous by nature, timely in his effort and a teacher throughout the process. His product not only has the "WOW" factor, but also endures the test of time.

Florence Moonan wrote: The centerpiece of my kitchen is a butcher block salvaged from my friend’s former butcher shop. It had been resurfaced many times over the years and was no longer usable for butchering. The top was uneven and worn, and it was too low to use as a work ...center. Clearly, it needed to be made more functional. A kitchen designer told me she knew just the man for the job--Birdie Miller. He promptly returned my email and got to work on the project. He leveled some of the top, made a thick, solid maple shelf to rest on the bun feet he added to bring it to a workable height. He distressed the finish to match the original and retain the aged look of the piece. The finish is as smooth as silk. My friends can’t believe the renovations this old, butcher block went through. It looks like it would have looked 75+ years ago. Birdie was a joy to work with from start to finish. He’s an outstanding cabinetmaker and master artisan. I highly recommend him.

sgp wrote: Birdie Miller has done several projects for us, the two most prominent being original tables made in part from wood we brought to him with nothing other than a vague idea of what could be done. With a touch of collaboration -- one of Birdie's stre...ngths is that he is open to ideas -- he produced magnificent works that we admire daily (and which are commented on by almost every guest we entertain). We are not the easiest to please, and call 'em like we see 'em, and were happy indeed with Birdie's work/art.

Vincent D. wrote: Birdie is a master craftsman! In our case, he transformed a felled walnut tree into a stunning 12 ft conference table. Showcasing a few well-placed natural "imperfections" Birdie made the piece a splendid example of nature's unique beauty. Birdie not... only has the eye and hand of perfection he puts passion into his craft. We also found him to work with us regarding our timing, price and design needs. We've worked with Birdie a few times now and give a huge thumbs up.

Linda von Thaden wrote: I was looking for a cabinet maker to turn my "builder Special" house into a custom home. Birdie Miller has helped to make that happen. Je helped me to ind the right style of woodwork and then put that woodwork into every room of my home. It took a wh...ile but I now live in exactly what I've always wanted! Thank you Birdie Miller!

Virginia Ziegenfuss wrote: Birdie Miller has built many pieces of furniture for our family. Not always knowing what we want- he has drawn up many plans and given us many ideas as to how the project can be done. We have been so pleased by his work- that sometimes we have tol...d him- just make it!!!. His latest project for us was a bar/kitchen and bathroom vanity. It was for our new addition- an indoor pool and spa room- which he actually also helped to design. It is very cool! Birdie - like his furniture- is one of a kind. We recommend Birdie Miller Designs.

Kathleen B wrote: My husband and I have used Birdie for two projects in our home. He designed and installed a wonderful cabinet/sideboard combination for our unusual living room/dining room space. He was able to look at our existing handmade furniture and design cab...inets to complement their style. He helps us choose beautiful woods and hardware and had excellent suggestions to make the design functional as well a stunningly beautiful. Everyone who sees it is in awe, yet it complements and does not overwhelm the room. We have also used Birdie to refinish some of our handmade fine wood furniture. Incredibly the furniture looks better than it was when we got in new. Birdie is a master craftsman and artist, in the truest sense of the word.

Deb Kline wrote: Count on Birdie Miller for high-quality work, but as a client, I really appreciate his ongoing communication and commitment to the timeline, daily updates on the work that will be done and gentle reminders of what I need to do to keep things on track... and perhaps most importantly, sticking to a very efficient timeline. Excellent work, customer-friendly and very clean - what more could you want?
