I was born
in Toronto, Canada and moved to the USA in 1973 with my family. My introduction to pottery began in 1973 at the UCDavis, California campus and I have been creating pottery ever since.
In 1976 and 1977, I lived in Paris, France , worked in the studio of Albert Diato and also the studio of Diana Berier, Le Cheval L'Envers. Traveling in Europe, I saw many fine examples of stoneware and porcelain from many cultures. Returning to the USA I have produced and sold pottery in Tennessee, Illinois, Iowa, Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
I have lived in Moscow, Idaho since 1981 and my studio is in my home. I prefer working with porcelain and fire to cone 10(1280C). I make my own porcelain and stoneware and mix my own glazes so I can created the effects I desire.
I have been very influenced by early Chinese porcelains and more recently by the marvelous shapes and colours of nature I saw while scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef.
Most of my work is functional, tending to be abstracted in shape at times. I prefer very clean, delicate, finished lines and forms and want to explore further the wonderful variations in forms and colours I am continuing to find in nature.
