The Topillos (topological pillows or cushions) are are fun adaptation of two earlier series - Anolatabulata and Con(jug)ates that evolved into a topological study of shapes that resulted from pairing, subdividing and permuting the pieces cut from paired discs. They work well as throw cushions, couch pillows or decorative elements.
The bronze abstract figurative sculpture is from the Matriarchal Series.which developed out of the most anthropomorphic shapes in the earlier Anolatabulata series. In the midst of developing these pieces- I realized I was referencing my great grandmother, my grandmother (Annie) my mother (Flo) my daughter (Jane) myself and grand daughter, (Emma.) Each of these, cast at the Talix foundry, is specified as a limited edition of 7..
Painting on vinyl was initially a way to elaborately mark spiral shaped sculpture to show how it was made. The marking became more and more expressive until the interest was in hanging color and expressive gesture.
