Although uncommon, because of its striking appearance it goes by many names, including American Thatch, False Thatch, Country Cottage, Storybook, Fairytale and Cotswold Cottage to name a few.

This architecture originated from medieval craftsmanship that flowed through the hands of peasants, who, with no formal training, graced the European countryside with their unpretentious cottages.
