My name is Janet Ryan-Kemp and it is my pleasure to have you visit me here at Jacana today.

Crafting has always been a passion for me. Since I was a young girl when my grandmother taught me how to crochet doilies until now. I have enjoyed learning new skills and working with many and varied materials. I enjoy sewing, cross stitch, scrapbooking, petit point, crochet, photography, miniature home building to name a few of my artistic endeavours.

Growing up as an army brat I had the opportunity to travel with my family across Canada. I also lived in Europe for 3 1/2 years during my early teens. It was an excellent chance to observe other cultures and meet some wonderfully diverse people. This certainly influenced the person I am today and how I approach my jewelry making, or any craft for that matter.

I create one of a kind jewelry for gift giving or self-indulgence. I pride myself in creating jewelry with an attention to quality and detail. The materials I use in creating my jewelry may include sterling silver, Swarovski crystals and pearls, natural pearls and stunning gemstones.

That being said, I also recognize that not everyone can afford expensive findings and components, but would still like the opportunity to purchase a designer piece of jewelry. Gold or silver plated findings and beads may be used in the creation of our fashion jewelry to help reduce the overall cost of the piece. I maintain the same attention to detail when designing and creating this jewlery as I do with my designer collection pieces.

I would love to say that I have found a "niche" when it comes to the style of my designs, but to be perfectly honest I get bored doing the same thing again and again. Recently I discovered polymer clay and am excited about the design possibilities using this medium.

I hope you enjoy browsing my store and I would love to have you drop me a note with your feedback or suggestions for new designs.
