    About Lonestar Woodworks

    I have always been interested in woodworking and as a youngster made simple birdhouses and sold them for 25 and 50 cents. However, I was not able to really concentrate on my woodworking until 1999. I began by making small decorative items for the home. Then I began making my unique one of a kind geometric butcher block boards and several other butcher block designs. However, I really wanted to make larger furniture pieces. I always wanted to build a very confortable rocking chair and found plans for one with lumbar support. I have now made about 20 of them. My projects also include butcher block tables and kitchen islands, entertainment cabinet, mission style bed, child's teddy bear rocker and buffet. I also made a red oak cradle and crib for my two grandsons and later bunk beds for them. I use mostly Texas mesquite and pecan and prefer to use no stain as to showcase the natural beauty of these two woods. I maintain a shop in D'Hanis, Texas, a very small community about 50 miles west of San Antonio, Texas
