  • Choppertone Session #3 - "Song For Rikki's Father"

    We had a great time working with Nick on his custom designed "Choppertone". The face of the case … is maple burl veneer on 1/4" lite ply, the sides are solid walnut. Doubtlessly the only one of it's kind in the world. In this video radioman Nick Francis remixes and mashes up Horace Silver's "Song For My Father" with Steely Dan and a host of other musical artists. This is a live one-take remix, using Nick's DIY MIDI controller, "The Choppertone".

    Update: I made an error naming the sax player in the video; it was Bernie Maupin (though you hear Joe Henderson in the original recording.)     Read more
