I work in
a variety of media, including jewelry, sculpture, and music. I've been making custom jewelry for over 20 years and composing music since I was a very young child. My sculpture work is mainly oriented toward natural history exhibits (my primary business) but I enjoy exploring other realms as well.
I enjoy the design flexibility inherent in "soft" media like wax or clay. Nearly any form and texture is attainable, on a small or large scale. Once the design has been achieved, permanence and durability may be achieved through casting in metals, resins, cements, etc. In my museum exhibit work, I rely on a variety of polymers that have "soft" and "hard" phases, enabling flexibility/versatility and permanence/durability to exist in the same material.
When creating jewelry, I mainly use the "lost wax" casting method. This allows infinite design flexibility that can be customized to the needs of the client, rather than being limited to assembling existing components that may or may not produce the desired result. While I do have the technology to create multiple reproductions of a piece, I especially enjoy creating unique individual artworks.
