At Nature's Knots,
custom furniture and home accessories are built to your specifications.
My goal is to provide you with beautiful furnishings for daily use from local hardwoods, or reclaimed stock if you prefer. Furniture you can depend on for generations.
I use traditional and modern woodworking methods throughout all of the pieces I create. Meticulous care is taken through every step, from understanding your vision, to design and construction, to the final finish.
My shop is tucked away in the mountains of Western North Carolina, just outside of Asheville. Here, the surrounding hardwood forests are well managed and give way to figured cherry, walnut, maple, sycamore, persimmon and other species.
If you have a particular style in mind or want to match an existing piece, I can plan and design that for you. Or maybe you have an original design you'd like to see come to life. I take pride in listening to what you want in your custom furnishings. If you can envision it, we can bring it to life.
From tables to media centers and jewelry boxes to fly boxes, if you're looking for custom heirloom furniture I'll be happy to discuss your project with you.
dining room table
by Sue Bowker Apr 26th 2013
We ordered a custom dining room table from Marty. He worked with us on design, taking our ideas and adding his own. He found old wood for the project and sent us a pix of the building it came from- lots of fun to see. He delivered exactly on time. The table has a beautiful patina and is well made, well proportioned and well designed. We love it. The only problem we had was that the leaves he delivered with the table were slightly too small. When we complained, he immediately took the leaves back and agree to re-make them at no additional cost. Haven't seen them yet, but my guess is that they will be perfect.
