My mission is to provide one-of-a kind solutions to meet your needs and make your "dreams come true", as I have done for many customers.

My name is Gene Smith from the beautiful hills of West Virginia. My company's name honors the man who first placed wood rasps in my hand - my father. During my teenage years, I affectionately called him 'Old Man'- a respectful jab. He in turn called me 'Noble Son'.

Trained in engineering, I worked with large companies and learned the art of creative, precise designs balanced with quality, cost & on-time delivery. Today my business – a custom woodworking shop in Plano, TX – is focused on building your furniture with the same quality craftsmanship and engineering precision. Weaving together my knowledge of wood beauty, aesthetics, and function, I can design and build a one-of-a-kind piece you/ your family will be proud of for many generations.

My customer’s requests have spanned the range from a Shaker bed ‘inspired by a picture in Architectural Digest’ to a piano bench for a young student. Pieces of my own design always have an eye toward people living with & using the piece. The wood species popular with my customers have been ash, mahogany, cherry, walnut, oak, birch and maple.

The process of designing a custom solution begins with a conversation in person or by phone. I will listen intently to understand your ideas. Then I will create drawings that match your vision. Once you are satisfied, l will start cutting wood. When your piece is done, depending on the size & location, I’ll arrange delivery via a shipper or personally deliver it to your door.
