Design that fits
you to a "T", sensitive use of lovely wood, techniques that stand the test of time, touchable surfaces and layers of detail--all wrapped in an enjoyable process and a trail of photos.
Tables are a particular passion: custom dining tables, coffee tables, end tables, hall tables, from simple to stately to Dr. Seussly, I like them all.
Service area
All over, with the magic of Internet, phone, and shipping. However, if you're near Corvallis let's talk over coffee...after all, this IS the Pacific Northwest! Shop tours are also welcome: see how the elf makes elegant dovetails and other lovely elements that attract us to custom furniture.
Shipping
Blanket wrap or crate, inquire for arrangements and rates.
For customers nearby including Corvallis, Albany, Eugene, Salem, Portland, Newport and the central Oregon coast, I'll probably deliver it personally.
Installation
Fine furniture built like this can last generations...IF you observe some simple precautions:
The big one: keep it indoors. Not the attic, damp basement, or garage--indoors, please. Aim for a spot where a baby would be comfy; not over a heater/ac vent, nor in the blazing sun for extended periods.
And watch out for places where an asteroid is likely to hit, or where chimpanzees will swing on the doors or climb the drawer pulls.
In short, big/frequent humidity swings (typical of garages etc.) and abuse are the main risks for even the finest custom woodwork. Avoid them and your heirs will commend your foresight as well as your good taste;-). Note as well that I use joinery and adhesives that are repairable. All things eventually need a little TLC: repairable pieces can weather the mishaps and continue to provide pleasure and service for generations.
Maintenance: if you want more shine, use a good conservation wax (but not a lot and not too often): Antiquax and Liberon Black Bison are excellent. Nothing with silicone!
