Custom Save-The-Date Cartoon Flipbook Wedding Invitiation
Posted on Jan. 18 2013This was an order for an original animated flipbook from a couple who wanted to make copies to give … out as save-the-dates for 70 of their guests. (luckily they did all the printing and binding)
Their wedding theme was vintage film, and I tried to incorporate that as well as other small details into the design of the flipbook (i.e the settings,outfits, ring, the cake, the dress, etc.) The animation is a summary of the first date to the proposal to the wedding. It was a lot of fun to work through the concepts and get them out in motion crammed into 40-50 pages. Read more -

I think she put it best: "Lily wants to be a facepainter/icecream scooper, Nora wants to be a princess.... not sure how strong their desire is to be those things... but their fleeting desires are worthy of praise.... cause i'm in love with them!"
So my task was to find a way to show this fast-forward in time, and it ended with a sweet little caricature photograph of the two adorable girls. I had a blast working on this project! What a brilliant idea. Read more -

Heres the customers … quote: "We are both scuba diving instructors (that's how we met) but we are currently doing long distance while I'm in school in England and he is living at home in the US. I just want something that shows that I am thinking of him and that our relationship is getting stronger despite the distance."
Had fun incorporating little underwater elements like the scuba gear, the backwards hat, their favorite animals: the hammer head shark & the spotted eagle ray...as well as my own addition... the heart shaped puffer fish. Read more -

Posted on Jan. 18 2013This is a memorial flipbook that serves as a 'Christmas card from Heaven' from my cousin Johnny who … passed away a few years ago.
John's mom wanted the flipbook to include John's favorite place: Cocoa Beach in Florida and his dog who recently passed away. This would have been his version of heaven. John picks up a rock and skips it across the ocean. His life had a ripple effect of love and joy that spread to everyone that ever knew him.

Posted on Jan. 20 2013This was a really cool custom flipbook order, given as a Christmas gift from a daughter to her mom. … She wanted to somehow show the lyrics to her mother's favorite song: 'Blackbird' by The Beatles. She also wanted there to be a mother/daugher moment. It was a fun to get to tell a story with a critter other than a human as well as having the freedom of interpreting and animating the story in my own way.

She wanted it to show all of the important parts of their relationship within that first year...Starting out as photographer co-workers, falling in love, working at banks, changes in their hair, their love for caricatures, and San Fransisco.
It was a small challenge to fit all the stuff into one easily flippable booklet but we worked together and made it happen!

Their … first kiss was under an expressway in New York (the BQE) where they now live a few blocks from. The idea was to tell the story of how it all began up until today. The customer did an amazing job helping me figure out the layout...she sent many photos including some very helpful google street view images. I had a hoot including all the little details like their outfits, the cat, the look of the house, the record player, and I even snuck their anniversary date "1-28" on the cab. Posted on Feb. 21 2013A really sweet guy from Brazil ordered this flipbook to give to his girlfriend after he proposes to … her. They've been together for 10 years. At first, they were just good friends, but one day they had a class together and she walked in, sat next to him, and put her head on his shoulder. He said that's when he knew he fell in love. They would draw pictures in class, and that takes the animation in the direction of the passing of time and finally their future. I had a lot of fun working out the concept and cramming it into 50 pages.
