I have been
professional artist for thirty eight years. The scale of my work ranges from pedestal pieces to large scale sculptural cast glass installations, to exterior landmark sculpture, to healing gardens, to functional architectural glass. My clientele include collectors, institutions, healthcare, public, liturgical, and universities. As a lead project artist my approach and studio practice welcomes synergistic development for conceiving site, client, and artist proprietary concepts; fabrication and shipping, with installations completed based on pre-arranged schedules. The aesthetic purpose of my installations is infusing the space and the site with physical and emotional connections that promote the facility, its environment, purpose and showcases modern american sculpture. Sighting a project defines the idea of being integrated and yet autonomous: born from the project and instilled with the strength to survive on their own; the idea is to communicate with and with-in a place. By melding my thoughts with the thoughts of others , I am able to shape and define the projects power of forward - thinking leading to a successful installation. I have worked with dozens of architects, interior designers, engineers, CEO, generals, light specialists, city/ county officials, project- stakeholders, fabrication specialists, heavy equipment operators.
Working with interior designers and architects has inspired me to design for the functional and aesthetic context of each clients environment. Working with functional art glass in physically interactive environments is an idea I started developing in 1989. For 30 years i have been leading the way at establishing portland oregon as a world center and place of destination for experiencing kiln glass. The most notable being "cold glass castings", where all the glass is handled with bare hands. My three areas of expertise are #1 fine art casting #2 architectural cast glass #3 functional architectural glass. My sculpture and architectural glass are landmark installations, placing cast glass nationally and internationally. With the large and diverse body of my work , i have been able to accomplish the incorporation of my work into the fabric of peoples dale lives, our landscapes, architecture and the interiors of our buildings. Unmatched, i continue to strive to erase the boundaries.
I am often contracted to projects as a "Lead Project Artist and/or Interior Design Consultant." Today, all of my glass castings that are designed as functional art features for interiors are certified as a structural building material (1600 P.S.F.) Aesthetically, my glass and sculpture compliment and extend the architectural design of every project.
I work to challenge the boundaries of contemporary art, while also working within the requirements of architects, interior designers, private collectors, permitting agencies, and clients to produce glass counters, glass stairs, glass walls, glass floors, glass bridges, and other sculptural elements that shape and define the personal sense of space for each of my clients.
