Center City Dining Table
CustomMade by Mark Cooper
The idea behind the piece was to make a table that was sturdy enough for everyday use with a minimum amount of materials. The emphasis was put on the structure, how the members are joined providing the necessary strength. Mortises are pinned with a contrasting wood, highlighting the construction and drawing attention to the angled joints. The apron of the table is then cut away, and the table top spans the created gap. The splayed legs give the piece the appearance of movement.
