A client brought me some cherry that he wanted turned into a desk. There was only enough for the panels; I got a wide board for the two board top and some more cherry for the legs. He wanted some black contrast so I made up the molded banding for the legs from ebony and hand carved the drawer pulls … out of black walnut and ebonized them. I worked out the design to best match his mixture of traditional and contemporary tastes. The center drawerfront flips down for use as a keyboard tray and what looks like two drawer fronts on the right is actually one large file drawer.
