The Chest is a contemporary exploration of the traditional serpentine form. The base chest is Federal in style, but with French feet, which mirror the sharp front corners of the top. The birdseye maple drawer fronts and drop is not unique, but the detail of the fiddleback makore crossbanding creates a deeper contrast which stands up well to the matched checkerboard inlay. While reading as an in-style piece, these elements would never come together during the 1800's.
