Cinnamon Birch Plasma Tv Wall Unit
CustomMade by Steve Hartfelder
It is typically thought that flat panel televisions are only able to be used in two ways; either mount them to the wall or set them on top of furniture. While both of these are valid options they are often not the ideal choice. Mounting a TV to the wall requires specialized knowledge and most … commonly the assistance of an electrician, handyman, and/or electronics professional. In addition, running the cables and electrical through the walls often leads to drywall repair, retexturing, and repainting. Resting a flat panel TV on top of a credenza is certainly an easy solution but doesn't truly take advantage of the skinny nature of the television. For these reasons a totally different solution is available and shown here, it is called a floating mount. The idea is build a beautiful wall unit but mount the TV to the furniture rather than to the wall. With this type of construction we engineer a super strong back wall, remove the TV from its stand, and float the TV directly to the furniture's back wall. When professionally done, as illustrated here, the front of the TV is about flush with the front edge of the furniture and appears to be floating in the air with no stand supporting it. This provides a completely unique, professional, and built-in look. This particular example also features integrated curio display space (with lights), extensive electronic storage, and a double bank of full-extension media drawers. Each of the media drawers is outfitted with a system of adjustable dividers so they can accommodate all sizes of media including DVD movies, CDs, and video games. The wood drawer fronts and wood doors are done with a raised panel design. The furniture is constructed from birch wood and finished in a cinnamon color through a multi-step process. The television shown is a 46" Mitsubishi LCD TV.
