Custom Wood Jewelry Box

I made these boxes in production runs of twelve for the League shops in New Hampshire. I mortised and tenoned the top lids and hand-dovetailed the boxes and the drawers. This particular box is made from curly oak, but most were in walnut, zebra wood, and quilted maple. The inserts for the
… drawers are made from foam and velvet. Because I used a tung oil finish, they had to be sanded to perfection. The design is classically simple, but devilish to do. Each one, even in a production run, takes about 12 hours to complete.
I am considering whether to make more of them and would if I could get orders in advance.

Wall clock

Creating this wall clock with Phil was a wonderful experience. He's open to all ideas and truly knows how to collaborate. I would highly recommend you choose Phil for any of your CustomMade projects. We liked the wall clock so much that we decided not to place it on a side wall in the kitchen, where it was originally intended for. It deserved a more prestigious home and now resides over our sideboard in our dining room.

cane or walking stick

Phil cut the wood from a red oak tree on his New Hampshire property using a long ladder and rope saw, a live branch, green wood. He cut it down to 1/4 inch of the final size, soaked it in a custom made polyethylene glycol tank for two weeks, finished the carving, let it dry, coated it with epoxy sealer and then with spar urethane. I like the cane. It is very sturdy, in case I need it to pry something. I'm almost 63 - I don't need a cane yet, but the time will come. Phil sent progress photos as the job progressed, and he delivered it in person. Thank you!

It was a pleasure working with Philip Morse. His guidance and responsiveness made the stress of the project much easier to handle. Philip is an extremely talented and accomplished craftsman and artist. He listens well so that his work for me is simply everything I wanted, and I am extremely pleased with the product. On top of this, his suggestions were crucial. His responses to my messages were always prompt. He finished the work before the due date. The price was very reasonable.
