A demilune (halfmoon) table of cherry and mahogany. Demilune style tables were designed to sit against a wall, orginally between two large windows. Even today they are statement pieces sitting in an entryway or wide hallway. This piece was designed to use a material that is unfortunately common in … Arizona, the bark of pinyon pine trees that has fallen from dead trees. The inside of the bark has a wonderful textured "bubbly" surface and I developed techniques to flatten the bark and use it in the inserts on the table apron here. The legs are turned in the shop and the feet have subtle pinecone texture added by hand.
