Faux Stain Glass Ceiling
CustomMade by Michael Benton
This was a project I did for the Mayo Hotel in Tulsa, Ok for their renovation. The ceiling was made up of stain glass panels that were 5' x 5' give or take a couple of inches on each panel. There was a total of 48 panels. Problem was the glass laying like it was had a tendency to allow the glass
… pieces to fall after a few years which was dangerous for the patrons below. They wanted a stain glass look without the danger of the glass falling.
What I came up with was a series of panels made in one piece with 3/8" textured plexiglass. To get the pattern, I used self adhesive leaded cane and transparent overlays for the color. Up close it's difficult to tell if it is real stain glass or not. It solved the safety issue.
Each panel had to be measured as no two opening were the same size. The project took about 3 months but was a big success for the owners. The original quote for replacing the stain glass with glass was $1600.00 per panel. I was able to bring the project in at $400.00 per panel which also made the owners very happy.

Not only was he timely in delivery of the project, especially with a somewhat limited time frame, he was able to work with my clients budget ensuring their utmost happiness. I will absolutely work with him in the future. Thanks Michael! The attached photo is the final project. Michael did an amazing job with the quality of wood and engraving.
