Feathers
CustomMade by Julie Nelson
This picture represents my exploration of using fine silver or 22k gold to make durable, wearable jewelry.
Pure and nearly pure metals are rarely used for modern jewelry because they are extremely soft and are usually alloyed with other metals to increase their durability and strength.
… But these pieces have been made durable through the ancient process known as work hardening
Each line of detail in these pieces are the result of a hammer blow. Hammering the metal 'work hardens' these soft metals and results in a lovely and durable, one of a kind piece of jewelry.
