Fire Box

A friend's husband is a decorated fireman who can't seem to keep his medals organized, so she asked me to build a box. This is the result. The sides are made from Poplar, the top is Cedar (the knot looks a bit like and eye . . . you know . . . the ever watchful Fire Department?). The inlay, red striping and flame job are from Paduak, which is a naturally red, exotic hardwood. The corners of the box are made from Aspen.
I've received no word on whether the husband has kept his medals organized, but she did like the box :)
