Foyer Bench

This bench was a pleasure to design and build.
The seat, back, arms and legs are walnut.
'The spindles and stretchers are maple.
The back has a unique tapered shape that flows into one of the arms which is joined with a
… bridle joint.
The other arm is joined through the back with a wedged mortice and tennon.
As I was designing this bench I wanted an unusual movement to it...the spacing, height and diameter of the back spindles progressively changes as they move accross the back of this bench.
The arms are hand shaped to feel good as you hold on to them and the gentle shaping brings out the character of the grain.

The cabinet fits just perfect. All the little "cut out" details make a huge difference. Everything is so neat and tidy, no plugs or cables showing. We bolted it to the wall right away. It's really great looking, a naturally beautiful & unique piece we will always enjoy. It's so sturdy too. Keep up the good and creative work. Thanks for creating such a cool piece.
