"Fractured" - An Open Vessel In Pecan
CustomMade by Mike Marek
"Fractured" is a hand turned wooden vessel mad from a piece of old growth pecan crotch wood. The original log had a major "split" were branches had stressed the trunk as the tree aged.
The vessel encompasses 6 "stitches" to hold the vessel together. One Cherry,Two Walnut, 2 African Blackwood ,
… and one of coffee grounds and glue.
The vessel has a thin wall and is surprisingly light when you initially pick up the piece. Stands approximately 8" tall and is about 5 inches in diameter at the top.
Finish is 5 coats of lacquer. Sanded and polished between coats.
Currently for sale and on display at Artworks Gallery in Chestertown Maryland.

Wedding Bride And Groom Toasting Flutes - Walnut Stems
by Denise Apr 07th 2013
Wedding Bride and Groom Toasting flutes for my daughter and soon-to-be son. Their wedding is in September 2013, she wanted something unique that no else would have. So when I showed her the picture, she said those were the ones for them. The whole experience from beginning to end was great. Gave them as a birthday present to her fiancee and he loved them! Pure professionalism and quality! Would recommend "The Wooden Quill, Lic" to everyone interested in what he creates...Thank you, Mike

beer tap made out of wood or metal
by Soham P. Sep 25th 2012
Even though I was not certain as to what I wanted from Mike, he showed me the options and guided me through the woodworking process. Mike sent me pictures of the project's progress, was very communicative, finished on time, and shipped the final product securely. The final outcome exceeded my expectations and made my friends (recipients of Mike's work) very happy. I would work with Mike again and recommend him to friends.
