Bamboo Console Table, "This table is constructed of single-ply edge grain bamboo plywood. My designs tend toward simple, clean lines, and in this case inspiration came from a traditional Japanese garden gate. The solid slab appearance was accomplished by simple miter and biscuit joinery. It was first dyed a very deep brown with an alcohol-based dye, then finished with three coats of a hand-rubbed satin oil/urethane blend. I enjoy working in bamboo because it is an extremely sustainable, rapidly-renewable resource; it's very dense, stable, and machines beautifully; and it accepts a finish very evenly."
