Rebuilt Kitchen, "Shown here is the newly completed kitchen in my own home. I used plain sliced red oak plywood with solid red oak face frames. The doors are arched red oak raised panels set inside the face frames. To eliminate any nail holes in the face frames, I used either biscuit or pocket screw joinery to attach the face frames to the cabinet units. All the shelving in the upper units is adjustable. The shelves themselves are solid oak with an almond colored laminate on the top side to allow for easy cleaning and eliminating any need for shelf paper. The lower units feature pullout trays with almond colored melamine bottoms. This allows for easy access and easy cleaning. Both the upper and lower corner units feature ìlazy susansî for easy access to the corner storage areas. (Do you get the idea my wife wanted easy access and easy cleaning everywhere?) The drawers use dove-tail joinery on the Baltic birch sides. The drawer bottoms are almond colored melamine. The drawer glides are of the under drawer, self closing, non-slam type. To add additional interest, I added a mantle shelf over the cooktop and used 3î beaded styles on the sink, refrigerator, and cooktop units. Additionally, all the exposed cabinet ends are arched raised panels to match the doors. Special storage areas include (1) a pullout trash receptacle, (2) an area for narrow cookie sheets, serving trays, etc., and (3) a pullout spice rack. The finish is semi-gloss lacquer aver a medium oak stain."
