Columbus Coffee Table
Cherry, Ash, Red Oak; Oil/Polyurethane/Beeswax Finish *** This coffee table was inspired by an architectural art highway overpass bridge near Columbus, Indiana. Constructed primarily from salvaged lumber I milled and dried myself, it uses bent laminations of cherry and ash to create the strong but graceful leg supports for the top, which is a gently sculpted lamination of cherry and red oak. The durable finish is meant to withstand occasional spills, yet retain a tactile beauty. This table shows you just one possible design for a custom contemporary coffee table. The other possibilities are endless! *** The custom design process is a wonderful and fulfilling collaboration between myself and my clients. I enjoy the challenge of designing and building new furniture. If possible, I visit the home where the furniture will reside (or, if distance is prohibitive, I review photographs of the new home for the piece), and then I provide a selection of computer drawn 3-dimensional renderings of what the piece might look like so we can all visualize it. This begins the iterative give and take design process, resulting in delivery of just the right piece of furniture! Have you a bent toward art furniture? Maybe we can work together to design an artistic table for your home! *** Juried Virginia Professional Artisan: Artisans Center of Virginia, Juried Member: Rappahannock Art League, Member: The Furniture Society
