This is the story behind the piece. The inspiration for it, what it’s made of and how it was created. It’s just the artisan’s way of showing you the level of care and detail that goes into what they create. And our way of reassuring you that for one-of-a-kind creations, you’ve come to the right place. So get to know the offerings and when you’re ready, contact the artisans directly. And do us a favor, let them know you found them on CustomMade.com

Sofa Table, Cherry, Walnut, White Oak; Oil/Polyurethane/Beeswax Finish *** This table focuses on the grain pattern of the cherry in the top, which was milled by me at my Virginia workshop from a severely bent tree salvaged from the burn pile. Look carefully and you can see the curved grain plank that was book-match sawn and joined along the sweep of the grain. The center of the resulting top reveals an opening where the walnut laminated below can be seen. To give balance, a bottom layer of white oak was laminated to the walnut. The top floats on a walnut apron and curved cherry legs, making the piece feel airy and light. The entire table was rubbed with many coats of a texturally soft but durable oil, varnish and beeswax finish. This is a very nice little table! *** I enjoy the challenge of designing and building furniture. The custom design process is a wonderful and fulfilling collaboration between myself and my clients. After discussing the project, and if possible visiting the home or business where the piece will reside (or, if distance is prohibitive, reviewing photographs of the new home for the piece), I provide a selection of computer drawn 3-dimensional renderings of what the piece might look like so we can all visualize it. This begins the iterative give and take design process, resulting in delivery of just the right piece of furniture! Let me work with you to design and build the perfect custom table for your home or business! *** Juried Virginia Professional Artisan: Artisans Center of Virginia, Juried Member: Rappahannock Art League, Member: The Furniture Society
