Paschal Candle Stand, Cherry with shellac polish finish. Antiqued brass candle cup. *** This piece was commissioned by a Church located in the high desert of Utah and was designed to complement the Pueblo style of the Church building. The stand is solid cherry, and the carvings are of the sea with the Christian fish symbol within the waves. It is used during Church services on Holy days such as Easter and other special occasions. *** I have a particular affinity for this type of work, and I enjoy doing the research and working with pastors and congregations to design the perfect religious furniture for their individual Sanctuaries. If possible I visit the Church where the piece will reside (or, if distance is prohibitive, I review photographs of the sanctuary and other nearby pieces of religious furnishings, such as the alter, lecterns, and baptismal font), and then I provide a selection of computer drawn 3-dimensional renderings of what the piece might look like so we can all visualize it in the environment. This begins the iterative give and take design process, resulting in delivery of just the right liturgical work! *** I invite you to contact me about designing and making fine and sensitive liturgical furniture for your Church. *** Juried Virginia Professional Artisan: Artisans Center of Virginia, Juried Member: Rappahannock Art League, Member: The Furniture Society
