This is the story behind the piece. The inspiration for it, what it’s made of and how it was created. It’s just the artisan’s way of showing you the level of care and detail that goes into what they create. And our way of reassuring you that for one-of-a-kind creations, you’ve come to the right place. So get to know the offerings and when you’re ready, contact the artisans directly. Processional Cross and Stand, Cherry with white oak staff and walnut inserts in the cross. Shellac Polish Finish. *** This piece was commissioned by a Church located in the high desert of Utah and was designed to complement the Pueblo style of the Church building. The carvings are the crown of thorns with the Christian IHS symbol. The stand and cross are made from solid cherry, and the staff is white oak and fits nicely into the stand. *** I have a particular affinity for this type of work, and I enjoy doing the research and working with pastors and congregations to design the perfect religious furniture for their individual Sanctuaries. If possible I visit the Church where the piece will reside (or, if distance is prohibitive, I review photographs of the sanctuary and other nearby pieces of religious furnishings, such as the alter, lecterns, and baptismal font), and then I provide a selection of computer drawn 3-dimensional renderings of what the piece might look like so we can all visualize it in the environment. This begins the iterative give and take design process, resulting in delivery of just the right liturgical work! *** I invite you to contact me about designing and making fine and sensitive liturgical furniture for your Church. *** Juried Virginia Professional Artisan: Artisans Center of Virginia, Juried Member: Rappahannock Art League, Member: The Furniture Society
