1000-Year-Old Pepperwood Flamenco Guitar
The back-and-sides of this guitar are made from a thousand-year-old log of Pepperwood, which has similar sonic properties to cypress. The design is based on a thin-bodied guitar by Antonio de Torres, is somewhat smaller and lighter than most modern flamenco guitars, and is closer in concept to 19th Century instruments. The soundboard is Master-grade Caucasian Spruce, and the 650mm-scale-length fretboard and the binding are Madagascar Ebony. The bridge is Ohi’a Lehua; and the neck, heel & head block are Spanish Cedar, which is traditional for Spanish flamenco guitars. The peghead is Bubinga, inlaid by Craig Lavin Custom Inlays. The guitar is fitted with Gotoh gold tuning machines with Ivory buttons. The inside of the soundboard is signed, dated and numbered (#15) by me. The guitar has a very strong and bright tone, and is set up with a very low action for fast flamenco playing.
