Luna Dining Table, The wife of a prominent Texas politician came to us looking for something unique for their West Austin home (they would be entertaining Hillary Clinton the week following our delivery). They didn’t want something too formal; she suggested something akin to a Shaker communal dining table.

I eventually came up with this simple idea, which marries traditional Shaker forms with clean modern lines. It is made entirely of clear Longleaf Pine that had been reclaimed from the beams of an old Texas warehouse.

Since then, several other versions of the table have been made using different varieties of wood. People often comment on the way the feet give the table a look of strength and delicacy at the same time. They are made of 25 very thin layers of wood, bent and laminated together to create the curve. Their ‘lunar’ shape gives the table its name.
