Philadelphia Chippendale side chair
This is a reproduction of a Philadelphia side chair originally built by Thomas Affleck around 1770. It is built in the exact fashion as Philadelphia chairs so we can guarantee that our chairs will still be functional in 250 years from now. Most high style Philadelphia Chippendale chairs were built from mahogany, as this reproduction was. Walnut would be the next most common wood used for similar chairs. I built this pair of chairs along with a order for 18 for a large and very formal dining room. All joinery is deep mortise and tenon and all carving was done one at a time by hand. Give me a call if you need a large set of chairs built. From Formal to contemporary, we can deliver. The pair of chairs I own are for sale!
