Hand carved door, Bear and Curly Maple, This is a door I carved for Bear Island Land Company, a local real estate office here in Ely. I made the stiles and rails out of Curly Maple, with the horizontal lines created by the rails intentionally not parallel, giving it that skewed look. The carving, being overlaid on the glass, is duplicated on both sides so that the inside of the door is a mirrored image of the outside. The wavy blue glass inserted for the lake water area give the door a touch of blue color. The clear glass is a 1/2" thick thermopane to help insulate against Minnesota's cold winters. The hardware on this particular door is a sand-cast entry set made by Emtek.
