Chippendale Style Walnut Chest on Chest Dresser, This chest on chest dresser was patterned after chests made by Thomas Chippendale and Rhode Island\'s John Townsend with custom made variations to suite my customer. The exterior of the chest is hand crafted from one inch thick Claro walnut planks that came from the same tree. This is apparent when you examine the drawer fronts which all have similar grain patterning. Unlike some furniture built in this period, no veneering was used on the drawer fronts. Everything is hand crafted from solid wood.

While this is a large chest in its own right, chests of the 18th century were often taller and wider to accommodate the tall, spacious rooms of the fine homes it was made to grace. This chest on chest dresser measures 42 inches wide by 21 inches deep (Lower chest) and the overall height is 93 inches. The drawer casings are made of white oak and are joined together with over 250 hand cut dove tails and pins. The hardware is cast solid brass replicas of originals from that period.
