The first piece of furniture I worked on was a picnic table I \"helped\" my father build of clear heart redwood and copper nails. I still remember the pleasure of that work, the texture of that wood in my hands, the smell of that wood under the handsaw, the magic of making something to use, and how easy it was to bend a copper nail with a hammer. <==> We were proud of our table, with its attached benches, but it had a flaw. If too many sat on one bench, it would tump over. This spilled enough watermelon and ice cream to interest me in design. <==> I have wanted to build things for people ever since that first table. I get to. I am thankful. In 1992, I designed a rocking chair that has both anchored and propelled this business: Gary Weeks and Company Furnituremakers. <==> I work with my wife, my son, and colleagues making rocking chairs, dining chairs, dining tables, barstools, and related accessories. We are known for the comfort and beauty of our chairs and the workmanship clearly displayed in our furniture. <==> We take care of the sources of our success. We serve our customers. We are loyal to our suppliers. We provide flextime, unusual benefits, good working conditions, and open books to our employees. We recycle, reduce waste and pollution, and compost the shavings and dust. All of our cherry, maple, and mahogany are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
