Knox Mountain Woodworking of Vermont
Each piece of Knox Mountain furniture is the result of a unique collaboration between builder and buyer. Every step of the way from initial consultation to final delivery, you will enjoy the kind of personal connection to both your piece and its maker that’s part of the Vermont way. Sue McLam will work with you to find the ideal design, personally keep you apprised of her progress as she works, and be there to answer questions and encourage your contributions. This journey begins with the wood itself. Whether you desire a classic hardwood, or a special wood of your own choosing, Sue hand selects every board to ensure matching color and grain patterns. From cabinet backs to dresser drawers, you’ll find your chosen woods inside and out. Only traditional joinery techniques like dovetails and mortise and tenon will be employed during construction. Drawers will glide effortlessly on wooden slides. Finally, your piece will be hand- sanded and hand-rubbed through- out with three coats of finish to achieve a glowing satin sheen and surfaces whose rich smoothness asks to be touched.
